What sizes we make

Women's styles run in US women's sizes 5 to 11, most of them in half sizes. Men's styles run in US men's sizes 7 to 13. Each product page shows which sizes are in stock for the color you pick, and every one of those size rows is held to ZGR standards.

Measure your foot in three steps

1. Wait until the evening. Feet swell during the day, by up to eight percent according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Shoes that fit at breakfast can pinch by dinner.
2. Stand on a sheet of paper. Wear the socks you plan to wear with the shoes. Stand with your full weight on the foot, since standing spreads it, and mark the back of the heel and the tip of your longest toe. That is not always the big toe.
3. Measure both feet. Measure the distance between the two marks, then do the other foot. Choose shoes for the longer foot.

How much room to leave

Leave about half an inch between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. Harvard Health Publishing puts the range at a quarter to half an inch. Less than that and your toes hit the front on every step. More than that and your heel slides.

Our fit notes

For the Classic Low Top and Classic High Top canvas sneakers we say: US sizing, true to size. For the men's high top canvas sneaker, check the inner length and allow for the width of your foot before choosing between two sizes. Where a style has its own note, it appears on that product page, just above the size row.

If you are between two sizes

Size is not the same from brand to brand, so the number you wear in another brand is only a starting point. Fit matters more than the number. Walk around in the shoes when they arrive, and do not count on canvas stretching to fix a pair that feels short.
